We here at Gallant State believe in the magic of a perfect fitting shirt, since it is something that has the ability to change your state of being. That’s why we have carefully constructed a simple and easy to understand questionnaire which provides us with enough information to create a perfect fitting shirt for you, whilst only needing one measurement.

We understand there are many questionnaires that require you to measure every part of your body to get that perfect fit, and even then the results are not guaranteed. Based on the constant feedback and the struggles associated with measuring your body, we have designed a questionnaire which uses the sizes of clothes you already own as a basis and allows for allowances where needed. Is the neck too tight on your dress shirts but the sleeve length is perfect? Or the other way around? We’ve got you covered.

Below we’ll explain what the questions are with screenshots included and how to answer those questions accurately, to ensure that your Gallant State shirt fits perfectly. First time, every time.
There are 11 questions in total, with only one needing a measuring tape.

1) How tall are you?
We should all have an overall idea of our height, but you can always double check your height using a measuring tape or an AR application on your smartphone to give you an accurate idea of your height. Round up to the closest inch/centimetre.

Your height helps us determine the perfect length for your shirt. We also combine your height and weight to give us an idea of your overall body measurements.

2) How much do you weigh?
Providing you with a shirt which is a perfect fit for your body is our priority. To make sure that we have a proper idea of your body shape, weight is an essential part of the questionnaire.

Like your height, we always have an idea about our weight. If you’re not sure about your weight and you don’t have weighing scale at your own place, you can go to your local General Practitioner or your local gym to get a perfect number. Round up to the closest lb/kg.

3) What is the waist size of your pants?
We need waist size of your pants to determine how tapered to make your shirt. Simply take out your best fitting pant of your wardrobe and note down the waist size to answer this question.

4) What is your collar size?
The perfect fit of your shirt depends on the accuracy of the collar size provided. The first part of a shirt noticed by others is your shirt collar, and having a tight collar can be very uncomfortable. But don’t get intimidated by the previous sentence, all you need to do is merely examine the label of your best fitting shirt collar size and answer the question, or add/subtract as needed.

5) What is your sleeve length?
One of the problems faced by ready-made shirts is their sleeve length, which are never accurate since they’re designed to fit “everyone”, while only fitting a very select few. But we have a solution, all you need to do is to check the label of your best fitting shirt sleeve length and select that option to answer the question. If you find your sleeves too short/long, add or subtract from the label size as needed.

6) What is your shoulder width measurement?
Shoulder width plays an important part in the overall fitting of the shirt. This question is to ensure that the yoke is of the correct length. This is the only question that you will need to measure. Measure from one side of the yoke to the other, where the seam meets the sleeve. Ensure that the measuring tape is ~2.5inch/5cm below the collar. Our algorithm has a knack for figuring out the most accurate measurement, but we prefer to leave no stones unturned. For more information on how to take this measurement, please see this video.

7) What is your suit jacket size?
Your chest measurement is very important in getting your perfect fit, and it helps us further increase our understanding of your body type. To create a perfect harmony between the shirt and the jacket is vital for a perfect attire.
And guess what? No measuring required! Simply check your suit jacket for its size label. Suit jacket sizing is based on your chest measurement (36/91, 38/96). No need to worry about
whether you’re a Regular (R), Long (L) or Short (S) since we have more accurate measurements for that.
